MacGrath: LBJ Not On Schedule

Published: September 5, 2008 01:35 pm EDT

"I set out a schedule for him (Somebeachsomewhere), and the Little Brown Jug wasn't on it. He's done everything we've asked him to do and I really don't want to leave my plan," Brent MacGrath has told the New York Daily News.

MacGrath's comments come after the connections of Meadowlands Pace and World Record holder Art Official announced that they will be supplementing their Art Major colt to the much-revered Little Brown Jug, contested in heats over the half-mile course at the Delaware Ohio County Fairgrounds.

Art Official pulled off a major upset when he narrowly prevailed over Somebeachsomewhere in a gargantuan mile in the Meadowlands Pace.

The connections of Art Official announced they were supplementing their star charge after the colt captured the $392,850 Cane Pace at Freehold Raceway on September 1.

Somebeachsomewhere will be locking up with six other foes tomorrow night at Mohawk Racetrack in a $132,326 division of the Simcoe Stakes for three-year-olds. The Pepsi North America Cup winner has drawn the rail with driver Paul MacDonell. The Mach Three colt is an overwhelming 1-5 favourite in the morning line. The dash has been carded as Race 8, which holds an estimated post time of 9:57 p.m.
