Champs Folly and Dawns Legacy, both of whom drew the rail, have been installed as the morning line favourites for their respective New Jersey Futurity division races for two-year-old pacers Saturday at Freehold Raceway.
Champs Folly, a son of Artiscape, is the 8-5 pick in the $39,430 colts and geldings event, carded as the second race; while Dawns Legacy, a daughter of Western Ideal, gets the nod in the $40,430 fillies split, the fourth race.
The New Jersey Futurities are restricted to offspring of New Jersey-based stallions and are sponsored by the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey.
Champs Folly, with David Miller scheduled to drive for trainer George Berkner, has finished in-the-money in six of nine starts but has only one victory – the $156,940 Battle of Freehold on September 1. He has banked $133,751 for owner Martin Goldman of North Caldwell, NJ.
He faces only three others. There will be no show wagering.
Dawns Legacy, who won the $82,410 Lou Babic Filly final in her last start, is paired with Hall of Fame driver Cat Manzi in a field of six and is rated 2-1 in the morning line.
The filly has a win, three seconds and two thirds from seven starts and earnings of $54,905.
