Jayporthasitall In OSS Gold Elims

Sophomore trotting fillies headed to Flamboro Downs this evening for four $40,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold eliminations and Jayporthasitall took top honours winning the fastest division.

In rein to Brad Forward, the even-money favourite got away third from Post 2 as Dornello (Trevor Ritchie) sped to the front and Frenchfry Snvinegar (Paul MacDonell) landed the pocket spot.

After a :28.4 opening quarter, Forward and his charge tipped out applying first-over pressure through panels of :59 and 1:28.2. Dornello held strong on the inside, but Jayporthasitall got up for the quarter-length victory in 1:58.2. Only Lonely (Bill O'Donnell) finished third.

Trained by Dan Creighton, the daughter of Striking Sahbra boosted her bankroll to $85,850 with her eighth win in 18 lifetime starts. The bay filly is owned by the Danterra Racing Stable of Strathroy, Ont.

Another Striking Sahbra miss found herself in the limelight after leading the field around the half mile oval in a clocking of 1:58.3. Condi Lane (David Boughton) cleared the front before the first quarter pole in :28. Leading through panels of :58.2 and 1:28.3, the Bob Young trainee trotted home with ease reaching the wire three and three-quarter lengths ahead of Nashotah (Steve Byron). Torch (Brad Forward) finished third.

Robert Deveau of Toronto, Ont. owns the four-time winner who has earned $91,913 to date.

In the first elimination, Pasadena Princess improved her record to seven wins and five seconds in 14 starts with a 1:59 victory in rein to Randy Waples.

The Bob McIntosh trainee cleared the front before the half in :58.2 and held on for the win by a head against a late rush from the pocket-sitter Gaelic Mistress (Steve Byron).

The Berndt Hanover filly who is owned by Robert McIntosh Stables Inc. of Windsor, Ont. and the C S X Stables of Liberty Center, Ohio increased her bankroll to $162,419 with her first OSS victory.

Whatta Hotty (Garrett Whelan) took the final elimination in 1:59.4 with a late rush in the stretch. She won by a head over the pacesetter Kadealia (Jack Moiseyev).

The daughter of Yankee Paco picked up her first win of the season for trainer and co-owner James Whelan of Troy and owners Terry, Mary and Clarence Devos of Langton, Ont. Her fifth lifetime score increased her earnings to $177,058.
