Ill Wait For You waited for no one on Friday night at Rideau Carleton Raceway when she went down the road to capture the $140,000 OSS Gold Final for two-year-old trotting fillies.
The contest took a turn at the start when heavy favourite and track record holder Cumin First (Rick Zeron) made a break.
Driver Trevor Ritchie hustled Ill Wait For You to the front in :29.3 and then the duo put on the breaks. Pajama Land (Jeff O’Brien) took her shot first-over through panels of 1:00.4 and 1:30.4, but it was to no avail as Ill Wait For You trotted home flawlessly under a confident hand drive to Ritchie. The Kadabra – Blue Cookie filly tripped the teletimer in 2:01, winning by a half-length.
Easter Bonnet (Guy Gagnon) made a late rally up the rail to finish second best and Daylon Mystique (Wayne Henry) completed the top three.
Dan Creighton trains Ill Wait For You for Danterra Racing Stable, who shelled out $62,000 to buy the filly as a yearling. In nine starts, she has collected four wins and purses of $141,820.
