Hyperion Hanover's 1:49.2 victory in last Saturday's Open Pace at Mohawk Racetrack was the first time the pacer had eclipsed the 1:50 barrier, but it wasn't the first time his dam had produced a sub-1:50 winner.
In fact, Hyperion Hanover goes down as the third sub-1:50 winner produced by the broodmare Hattie. Her other sub-1:50 winners are Holborn Hanover (1:46.4) and Haverford Hanover (1:49).
The amazing feat makes Hattie just the second broodmare in the history of the sport to produce a trio of sub-1:50 winners. Rich N Elegant, who produced Rocknroll Hanover (1:48.3), Red River Hanover (1:48.4) and Royalflush Hanover (1:49.3), was the first.
Both mares are owned by Hanover Shoe Farms, and they both have yearlings scheduled to sell at public auction this fall.
Rogers Hanover, a filly by Western Ideal out of Rich N Elegant, will sell at the Harrisburg Yearling Sale in November.
Hendrick Hanover, a colt from the first-crop of Rocknroll Hanover out of Hattie, will sell at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale in October.
