Grand Circuit Week Kicks Off at Pocono

Native Bride continued her winning ways with a victory in a W.N. Reynolds Memorial Stakes race on Saturday afternoon at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The Reynolds races are the featured part of Grand Circuit Week at Pocono, which runs through Friday.

Native Bride, trained and driven by Joe Pavia Jr., rolled to a win against other three-year-old filly pacers in 1:51:1, a career-best for the filly. She now has seven wins in nine races this year, including the May Flowers final and a Pennsylvania Sire Stakes win at Pocono, and 10 wins in 12 races in her career.

There were seven divisions of the W.M. Reynolds Memorial Stakes races held on Saturday at Pocono for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings, each of which carried a purse of $20,000. There were also three splits held for three-year-old pacing fillies with purses of $26,636.

The other three-year-old filly Reynolds winners on the day were Cannae Princess (1:52:3, driven by Yannick Gingras and trained by Mickey Burke), and Dreamlands Latte (1:52:3, driven by David Miller and trained by Joe Holloway).

Citation Lindy, a colt trained and driven to victory by Ray Schnittker, turned in the day's fastest time among the two-year-old trotting divisions of the Reynolds, with a win in 1:57:1.

  • The Vatican (2:01, driven and trained by Dewayne Minor)
  • Shermans Mountain (1:57:3, driven by Mike Simons and trained by Donald Wiest)
  • Winning Mister (1:58, driven by Charlie Norris and trained by Rich Gillock)
  • Encore Encore (2:00, driven by Norris and trained by Gillock.)
