Two-year-old pacer Goldstar Rosie posted her sixth win out of seven starts on Friday at Pompano Park, capturing the $26,250 Florida Sale Stake for fillies.
Driver Dan Clements moved Goldstar Rosie quickly from mid-pack to take the early lead and pace over to the quarter in :28. With Bling (Mel Turcotte) settling in the pocket, Clements steered the field to the half in :58.3. As they headed over to the three-quarters in 1:27.4, Goldstar Rosie was in full command and hit the wire in 1:55.3, winning by two and a quarter lengths.
During the mile, the filly had broken her left front hobble. “Had I known that the hobble was broken, I might of pulled her up,” said Dan Clements.
“This horse has heart and we are so proud of her,” said co-owner Jamie Marra.
The Rock On – Eileen Filly pacer is eligible for the $100,000 bonus for winning all four Florida Sire Stakes Finals from the Florida Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association and the Isle Pompano Park.
Goldstar Rosie is co-owned by Beth Levine and Trainer Tom Audley.
Bling (Mel Turcotte) finished second with Howards Pride (Bruce Ranger) finishing third.
