The St. John's Racing and Entertainment Centre rolled out the red carpet for filly pacers earlier this afternoon, as they did battle in a pair of non-wagering divisions of the NLSBA.
Jig Time took home top prize in the three-year-old division thanks to a 2:05.4 victory for trainer/driver Rodney Forward and owner Michelle Forward of Goulds, Newfoundland.
The daughter of Collector Rd defeated Backriver Breeze by a neck to take home the lion's share of the $2,800 purse. Western Bullet rounded out the top three.
It was a career-best clocking for the two-time winner.
Camco Norilla was much the best in the event for freshmen fillies. The daughter of Arcane Hanover rolled to a 14-1/2 length score in a time of 2:05 for trainer/driver Dennis Lambert Jr.
It was the quickest victory to date for the rookie, who now owns a 3-1-1 record in her first five starts. She is owned by Karen Lambert of Goulds, Newfoundland.
The day also proved to be a productive one for Shane Forward, who found his way to victory lane on three occasions – each time with a horse from his own stable.
