Edward Smallwood’s Dunmore Chip circled the Truro Raceway in fashion on Sunday afternoon taking the $4,537 Nova Scotia Stake for two-year-old trotters.
The Black River gelding led the field of four right from the get-go. After blasting off the gate from Post 5, Dunmore Chip carved out fractions of :32, 1:04.1 and 1:36.4 en route to victory in 2:11.1.
West River Tigger (Ken MacDonald) recovered from an early miscue to finish two-lengths back in second and Mr Craig Ridge (Alyre Pineau) finished third.
The Globetrotter Atlantic Classic winner, who has banked $32,074 in purse earnings, now sports a record of 7-3-3 in 15 outings.
