Fans at Hiawatha Horse Park on Thursday evening witnessed a racing rarity as a result of back-to-back dead-heats for win.
The photo finish camera went to work in Race 3 when S J Mckillop Lass (Jason Gale) and L M Santana (Gene Piroski) came charging to the finish line together in a time of 1:55.4.
After deliberation, the ORC Judges could not separate the mares and declared a dead-heat for win.
In the very next race, Kaleidescope (Andy Moore) and Mightymachthree (Chris Johnston) put on a thrilling stretch battle which resulted in the photo-finish camera being put to work for the second consecutive race.
After close examination, the ORC Judges ruled that there was nothing separating the mares at the stripe.
