If East Coast racing fans haven’t heard of Billy Dobson, it's because he has spent most of his career racing in the Midwest.
A few weeks ago he arrived on the East Coast with just his colours and his driving gloves. Since his arrival, the reinsman has been opening the eyes of railbirds, especially at Monticello Raceway. On Monday, November 17, the 24-year-old pilot put on a driving clinic when he scored six victories on the 'Mighty M' race card.
Dobson’s first victory came in Race 2 when he drove Southwoodsgranslam ($25.20) to a 2:04:3 triumph. He followed that up with a 2:02:1 score in Race 3 with Julias Girl ($13.80).
Dobson then won the fifth race with MVP’s Royal Lillie ($7.00) in 2:00:4. He recorded back-to-back triumphs in Races 8 and 9 when he won with Blue Creek Angie ($6.60) in 1:57:4 and Bacon Hill Dannie ($25.80) in 2:03:1, respectively.
Dodson capped his day with a 1:59 victory with Ruby C ($8.30) in Race 10.
