On Saturday, July 19, Hanover Raceway will again be hosting a one and a half-mile pacing event for $5,500 claimers.
Hanover has been approved for a nine-horse field which would include a pair of horses starting from trailing post positions. Exactor, triactor and superfecta wagering will be available for the dash.
"The extra half mile resulted in some very interesting racing in the past," Hanover Raceway general manager Gord Dougan said via a release. "It also resulted in a better chance at winning for the horses that drew outside post positions."
Dougan says having a nine-horse field in this race will hopefully result in more excitement and better payouts for the customer.
Hanover states that it saw increased betting on the distance race the first time around. Hanover believes that the nine-horse field will make the aforementioned wagers enticing for fans.
Hanover will attempt to card five one and a half-mile eliminations over the next two and a half months, with the top nine finishers returning on Saturday, September 27 for a $9,000 non-claiming final.
Starting this Saturday, the event will be run every other week until the end of the season, including Saturday, August 2, Dream of Glory final day.
Horsemen requiring more information should contact race secretary Dianne Twasnick at (519) 846-1006, or 1007.
