Unbeaten Dial Or Nodial extended his streak to four and was one of three offspring of Western Ideal turning in winning efforts in New Jersey Sire Stakes action on Saturday, August 16 at Freehold Raceway.
Dial Or Nodial, driven by Brian Sears and trained by Jim Campbell, scored a length and a half victory in 1:55.2 in the seventh race, the middle of three $20,500 second round divisions for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings. The program also featured three divisions of NJSS for two-year-old pacing fillies.
Dial Or Nodial [Western Ideal – Smart Dialing] is a homebred owned by Arlene and Jules Siegel of New Hope, Pennsylvania. He won a pair of New Jersey Sire Stakes at the Meadowlands, including the $175,000 final on July 10 at 1:51.4, and captured an opening round division at Freehold in his last start. He has banked $124,250.
McArdles Star [McArdle] and Essential Signs [Life Sign] were second and third, respectively.
Jim Campbell also harnessed Fireintheshark [Cam's Card Shark], owned and bred by the Siegels, who captured the first division, the second race, in 1:54.4. Jason Bartlett was at the lines in the two-length tally over Life Up Front [Life Sign]. It was seven lengths back to Sir Sisu [McArdle] in third.
In the final colts division, the eighth race, Allamerican Improv [Artiscape] picked up his third straight win and fifth in six outings.
Jeff Gregory drove Allamerican Improv for trainer Jim Graham who co-owns the colt with Ronald Viola of Pittsford, NY and David Venniro of Webster, NY. It was three and a half lengths back to Champ's Folly [Artiscape] in second and four and a half to McIdle [McArdle] in third. The mile was clocked in 1:55 flat.
JKMusicofthenite and Tutu Hanover, both daughters of Western Ideal, each won a $20,000 filly division of the NJSS, the first and third races, respectively, while Lu Lu Q [McArdle] captured a $20,500 division, the fourth race.
It was the third straight win for JKMusicofthenite, driven by Yannick Gingras and trained by Linda Toscano. The 3 Brothers Stable of New York City owns and bred the filly, who paced the mile in 1:56.2.
Tutu Hanover, owned by Quebec's Brian Paquet, Gestion Audet and Yves Sarrazin, picked up her first win in three starts in 1:56.1 with Daniel Dube in the sulky for trainer Rick Bilach.
Lu Lu Q, driven by Andy Miller and trained by Erv Miller, posted her second win in two starts with a mile in 1:55. She is owned by Floridians Alan Quinn and Frank Cannon with Steve Stewart of Paris, Kentucky.
