It was non-stop action from start to finish in today's $85,500 Allerage Farms Open Mare Trot, and that was music to the ears of Bruschette - a mare well-known for her patented closing kick.
The four-year-old daughter of Andover Hall was nowhere to be seen in the early stages of the mile, which saw a number of different mares take turns on the lead through panels of :27.2 and :55. Falls For You and Susies Magic butted heads at the mid-way point, and they raced the field to the three-quarter pole in 1:23.3.
Bruschette, in the meantime, was setting up a rally from the backfield for driver Ron Pierce. She kicked off cover at the head of the lane and powered past the leaders in deep stretch to win in a career-best clocking of 1:53.1.

Brigham Dream, the winner of this year's Breeders Crown Open Mare Trot, managed to pick up the runner-up award and Falls For You rounded out the top three in the 11-mare affair.
She's a wonderful filly, Jan Johnson has done a great job with her and Ronnie [driver Ron Pierce] gave her a great drive," said Ebby Gerry, whose wife, Caroline, owns the mare. "She never saw the rail today, I guess she was three wide around the final turn. It's always great to win a race down here."
Jan Johnson conditions the trotter, who won for just the second time this season in 13 tries. It was the sixth lifetime score for Bruschette, who boasts $288,898 in lifetime earnings.
