Driver Tim Brown and trainer Amber Lancaster paired up to take the two featured $17,000 Open Pace events at Fraser Downs on Sunday afternoon.
In the Fillies & Mare Open Pace, B Bar Marilyn used the inside post to her advantage for the second consecutive week.
The six-year-old Presidential Ball mare laid down panels of :28, :57.2 before battling with the first-over challenger, Furious Five (Serge Masse), through a 1:26.1 third quarter. Refusing to give way, B Bar Marilyn dug in and with a :28.2 final effort the post time favourite prevailed in 1:54.3 by three-quarters of a length.
Judgesacenthehole (Jim Marino) rode the pocket to finish second and Furious Five rounded out the top three.
The winner of $189,414 picked up her 26th career win for owners Sandra Brown of Langley and Jack Thompson of Burnaby, B.C.
In the Open Pace, Sandra Brown and Jack Thompson’s Classy Character also made his second consecutive trip to the winner’s circle after wiring the field.
The six-year-old gelded son of Shady Character shot to the lead from Post 6 and never looked back. The winner of $239,583 notched his 23rd lifetime score after carving out fractions of :27.3, :57 and 1:25. With a :28.4 final quarter, Classy Character reached the wire in 1:53.4.
Red Star Samper (Gord Abbott) finished a length and a half back in second and Stonebridge Camlot (Billy Davis, Jr.) was third.
