Trotters & Pacers, a series of half-hour features on the harness racing community, debuted this morning at 9:30 a.m. on TVG.
The first program in the series, sponsored by the Hambletonian Society, features a look at the Breeders Crown, harness racing's championship series, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The series is produced by Vigilante Films and has been financed by multiple stakeholders in the harness racing industry. Award-winning broadcaster Gary Seibel, long-time host of the Hambletonian on NBC and CBS, will anchor the show.
Seibel has been TVG's expert harness racing analyst as well as a key host for all breeds of racing. The inaugural show includes historical Breeders Crown moments; features on the phenomenal year trainer Steve Elliott experienced with 2007 Horse of the Year in the U.S., Donato Hanover, culminating in a quest for a Breeders Crown title; the tale of a gangly colt named Deweycheatumnhowe, who blossomed under the tutelage of Ray Schnittker to give the veteran trainer/driver his first Crown victory; and the story of a very special little boy and the racehorse named in his
honour.
