Bax On Define The World

Trainer John Bax has commented on Define The World as he readies the Duke Of York gelding for the Simcoe Stakes Saturday at Mohawk Racetrack.

The bay has won eight of 15 seasonal starts, finished second five times and banked $318,588 on the campaign. He will line up for Race 10 on the Mohawk card, which holds a $132,327 purse.

"He's been a pleasant surprise," Bax told the Woodbine Entertainment Group media office. "He was a real disappointment as a two-year-old -- he cracked a bone in his foot from kicking the wall, so we gelded him. And then he didn't grow this winter, so our expectations were pretty limited when we started out with him this spring.

"He has come along pretty well. He raced big at Flamboro the other week. He's a handy horse who can work out just about any kind of trip, and he wants to win, which really helps."

The first Simcoe division will go as Race 3, featuring 'Raz' MacKenzie pupil B Strike Three.
