Another Hudon name will appear in the Fraser Downs race program this week.
David Hudon Jr., the 17-year-old son of trainer/driver Dave Hudon passed his trainers' license test on Saturday and he is ready to go, with horses representing his small stable in to go this week.
Hudon Jr. will officially be listed as the trainer of two-year-old BC Breeders Stakes contender Im The Money, recent Fraser Downs winners Lilkent, Kontrolledkhaos and Undercover Brother.
The teenager also shares in the ownership of these horses with his mother, Kelly.
"I'm so proud of him," Kelly said. "He sat his trainers' test with head judge Herb Hugel on Saturday morning and he came home and said to me we have to go to the track on Monday to put in some stable changes. I am excited for him, he has wanted to be just like his dad and train and drive since he was oldest enough to talk."
Hudon Jr. will quickly get his first shot at Stakes glory this week when Im The Money, an Usher Hanover colt that he selected and purchased at the 2007 Pacific Yearling Sale, contests the second leg of the BC Breeders Stakes.
Im The Money, a freshman colt, has three second-place finishes from four starts, and last Thursday chased the undefeated Primary Purpose from start to finish in the first leg of the BC Breeders when runner up in a 1:57 mile.
It will be 12 months before Hudon Jr. can commence race driving in BC.
