The Tuesday, Sept. 8 harness racing program at Running Aces shined the spotlight on the Minnesota-sired freshman trotters and pacers and both Slipped Onmybeans and Captain Ricky turned heads yet again as they extended their respective winning streaks.
Both are from the first Minnesota crop of pacers sired by Captainryanmichael.
Slipped Onmybeans (dam Fancy Little Girl) rolled to her seventh straight triumph in the $$22,222 Minnesota-sired filly 'A' pace in 1:56.1 and checked home 2-1/2 lengths clear of Stormy Shores (Justin Van Otterloo) and Icing On The Cake (Nick Roland). Dean Magee was the winning driver for trainer, owner and breeder Scott Banitt. The win was the ninth in 10 career starts for newly minted six-figure earner Slipped Onmybeans, who paid $2.10.
Captain Ricky (dam Exsqueezeme) extended his win streak to five in a row in the $22,222 Minnesota-sired male 'A' pacing event while establishing a new divisional track record of 1:54, finishing 1-1/2 lengths better than Heroic Honor (Nick Roland) and Bombi (Mooney Svendsen). Casey Leonard was in the driver's seat behind the Justin Anfinson trainee for owners Alan & Cheryl Sandbulte of Maurice, Iowa and Stephanie Anfinson of Kenyon, Minnesota. Captain Ricky, who paid $2.40, now has seven wins from nine career outings.
Another Minnesota-sired winner for Casey Leonard and Justin Anfinson, Turbo Tinker (Big Oil-Twilight Tinker) notched his fifth career victory with a career-best 2:01.4 showing while making his 10th career start in the $24,306 male trot, besting Fossil Fuel (Brady Jenson) and Matagi (Nick Roland). The $5.40 winner is owned by Cathy Dessert of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota and Ken Stauffer of Withee, Wisconsin.
The Casey Leonard-driven JRs Starburst (World At War Deo-Viserion) posted her second straight win in the $24,306 Minnesota-sired filly trot with a 2:02.2 score over Big Keliane (Adam Hauser) and SD Count Trotula (Brian Detgen). She is owned by Friendship Stables of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey and George Dremonas of Burr Ridge, Illinois. The Harold Herrera trainee paid $2.40 to win.
The other freshman pacing winners included the Edward Hernandez-trained Bee Cee Dee, taking a new mark of 1:55.1 and paying $6.80 to win in a $15,278 'B' event with Casey Leonard aboard, and trainer Rick Huffman's Hot Dog Money, in a career-best 13-1/4-length romp in 1:55.3 in the $9,722 'C' event with Nick Roland in the bike, paying $2.60.
Cash Money Twenty, driven by Dean Magee, rallied inside of Alta Revelry N (Nick Roland) late to capture his 10th win of the year in the $23,611 Open Handicap Pace by half a length in a 1:52.1 mile. The $2.80 winner is trained by Brett Ballinger and owned by Heart & Soul Racing of Des Moines, Iowa. The four-year-old Stevensville-Hostess Lisa gelding topped $150,000 in earnings in his 13th seasonal start and went over $600,000 while improving his scorecard to 30-for-39 lifetime.
Live harness racing returns to Running Aces on Thursday, Sept. 10 for an 11-race program that will get underway at 6 p.m. (CDT).
