Captaincountrystar ($2.80, Pat Berry) recorded his 11th win of the year, scoring in 1:52.2 on Monday at Harrington Raceway in the featured $30,405 Free-For-All Pace.
The four-year-old Captaintreacherous gelding continued his dominance after overcoming the outside post quickly as he charged for the lead after the gates folded through an opening quarter of :27.2. Once clear, the 2-5 favourite had things his way through middle half fractions of :55.4 and 1:24.1. Pacing home in :28.1, Captaincountrystar had more than enough to hold pocket-sitter Mack (Jim Morand) at bay by 1-3/4 lengths. Wehadababyetzaboy (Montrell Teague) was third.
Trained by Traci Barry for Tlb Racing, Captaincountrystar has won 11 of 24 on the season and 31 of 68 for his career.
One race earlier, Wayne Hughes’ Nuclear Armed ($24.80, Ceba Horsey) won his third straight race in a lifetime best of 1:55.4.
Live harness racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule through Oct. 23. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
