Just a neck short in his Flamboro Downs debut last Sunday, Artofficial Flavor prevailed in his second attempt as the 2-1 choice in the $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace over the wide-rallying Sports Column.
Driver Bob McClure sent Artofficial Flavor first-up from third after the first lap and took the lead from millionaire pacesetter Fool Me Once (:28.2, :57.4, 1:26.1) in the stretch en route to victory in 1:54.1. Sports Column, winner of this class last week, closed three-wide to come with three-quarters of a length at the wire while Fool Me Once settled for third.
Dean Nixon trains and co-owns the four-year-old Art Official gelding with Jeralene Roland, Michael Gillis and Justin Nixon.
The win was the pacer's third this year in 12 starts and 10th victory lifetime, lifting his bankroll to $80,483.
