Not even a gap in her schedule could stop Tajmeallover from defeating Century Downs’ leading distaffers in Friday’s $10,500 Fillies & Mares Open.
Tajmeallover, who last raced – and won – in the same class on August 13, 2016, used come-from-behind tactics to capture the Friday evening feature for the team of driver J.F. Gagne and trainer Marjorie Dumont.
Gagne got away fifth with the 6-5 favourite while American Passion motored to the top and whacked out fractions of :28.2, :57.4 and 1:25.3. Tajmeallover picked up cover on the way to the half, and she was hustled up three-wide to go after American Passion at the three-quarter pole. Tajmeallover then used a :28.3 closing panel to reach up for the nose decision over Skade in 1:54.2. Third prize went to Runway Model.
The five-year-old daughter of Tajma Hall-Watch Over Me is homebred owned by Gagne, Peter Van Seggelen, Carl Warnaar and Tapron Holdings Ltd. The mare has picked up nine wins this season and 24 scores over the course of her career. She’s banked close to $160,000 to date.
