Pieraz was treated to a ground-saving journey in Thursday’s $13,000 Preferred for pacers at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and he needed every inch of racetrack to turn that trip into a victory for driver Denis St. Pierre

.

The five-year-old son of Bolero Master-Bye Bye Pippa, who was sent off at odds of 4-1, got up in the final strides to score in a career-best clocking of 1:52.4.

St. Pierre tucked into the three-hole with Pieraz, who watched Part Shark roll the eight-horse field through fractions of :27, :56.2 and 1:24.3. Pieraz mustered up a :27.3 final quarter, and that was good enough to earn him the nose decision over the tempo-setting Part Shark, with Its A Good Thing a little more than a length back in third.

Trainer Pierre Leclerc co-owns the 14-time winner with Gina Bragagnolo of Louiseville, QC. In 18 starts this season the pacer has put together a 3-6-5 record while earning more than $38,000. He has potted in excess of $170,000 to date.
