Thomson Seelster Rallies In Preferred

Stepping back up into the $11,000 Not Listed Preferred class Wednesday at Sudbury Downs, Thomson Seelster produced a winning performance for trainer, driver and

owner Gerry Belanger.

In the Wednesday night feature, Thomson Seelster got away third after leaving from the inside post while track record holder Deuces And Jacks (Paul MacLean) left from the next position over and set up shop on the front end. After a :29 opening quarter, last week's Preferred winner, Rush Rules (Mike MacNeill), pulled the pocket and moved first-up. Deuces And Jacks remained in control past middle markers of :57.3 and 1:26.2, but couldn’t hold off Thomson Seelster down the lane. The nine-year-old gelded son of Rustler Hanover-Timeless used a :28 final frame to forge ahead in the stretch to a one-length victory in 1:54.4.

Deuces And Jacks stayed for second and No Competition (David Dowling) closed well for third over the favoured Rush Rules.

The win was Thomson Seelster’s third of the season in 20 starts lifting his earnings to $30,784. His 60th lifetime score pushed his career earnings to over $560,000.
