Mandy Archer harnessed three winners from her stable on Sunday evening, Sept. 8 at Rideau Carleton Raceway, including the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Pace winner Early Action.
Early Action has been alternating show and win finishes for the past six weeks and this was the week that the Archer student was up for the win again. This week, Early Action set up in post four in the field of five featured pacers with Ryan Guy in the seat.
The field left the gate and traded strides for the front. As the quarter pole was approached, Revolt (Jimmy Gagnon) took control to hit the timer first in :27.2, followed by Jet Rock (Stephane Bardier) in the pocket with Early Action caught outside in third. Revolt continued onwards, Jet Rock in second, and Early Action settled in for third along the pylons at the half in :54.3.
Guy did not sit for long and Early Action was out again, first-over towards the leader. After the 1:22.4 three-quarters, Early Action gave everything he had and unloaded on the field. Using a :29 last panel, Early Action was home in 1:52.2 with a 7-3/4-length romp. Revolt took second and Jet Rock completed the triactor.
Early Action is a five-year-old gelded son of Huntsville and Fashion Katie, owned by Jamie Copley and Kimberly Eaton. He has four wins this year in 22 starts. In his career of 58 starts, Early Action boasts $655,068 with a record of 15-11-10. His most notable win was in 2021 in the $386,600 Governor's Cup at The Meadowlands. He delivered as the bettors' choice, returning $3.30 to win.
Archer also won with Jims Big Thrill ($3.20) by 3-1/2 lengths in 1:55.1 and Monteray Jackie ($2.60) by three-quarters of a length in 1:57, both driven byGuy.
