So Amazing and driver Steeven Genois won the feature race on Friday, Sept. 8 at Vernon Downs, a $6,500 fillies & mares conditioned pace.
So Amazing was first to the quarter in :27 then favourite Anytime N (John MacDonald) battled for the lead going down the backstretch to the half in :55.3 but eventually threw in the towel. So Amazing broke free and was first to three-quarters in 1:23.2. As the mares reached the stretch, Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) went to the outside and Lorrie Sue (Frank Affrunti) slipped though the inside making it three across track. So Amazing dug in and won in 1:52.4 by a half-length over Unusual Clarity with Lorrie Sue finishing two lengths behind in third.
So Amazing is a five-year-old mare by So Surreal, conditioned by Vernon meet-leading trainer Michelle Warner for owners Big Sky Ranch and Rita Scharman. The win was the third this season from 26 starts for So Amazing and she now has 17 career victories. She paid $5.40 to win as the second choice.
Live harness racing returns to Vernon Downs on Saturday, Sept. 9 with a 10-race card starting at 6:05 p.m.
