Sent the 2-5 favourite, Chaleurs Ad grabbed control past the quarter and faced little challenge when taking the $8,600 Preferred Handicap Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday, Sept. 8.
Trainer-driver Guy Gagnon sent the seven-year-old Riggins gelding to the front past a :26.2 first quarter and maintained control through a :56.3 half and past three-quarters in 1:26.1 in progress to a length-and-a-quarter victory in 1:54.1. Atomic Million Am rode the pocket for second while Silverado gave chase from third.
Owned by Ecuries Maguire Inc., Chaleurs Ad won his seventh race from 18 starts this season and his 36th from 96 overall, earning $95,920. He paid $2.60 to win.
