The BC Lottery Corp. recently announced that it plans to have online casino gaming up and running by next year
.
Games like blackjack, roulette and poker will be offered. According to an article by CBC.ca, the provincial government is looking to get at least a piece of the 87 million British Columbian dollars which residents wager with offshore gaming websites.
"Rather than it all going offshore to places like Antigua, there's an opportunity to keep it here in British Columbia," BCLC CEO Michael Graydon was quoted as saying.
BC's legalization of online casino gaming would make it the first jurisdiction in North America to do so.
