For the fifth straight time, Guido Di showed his heels to the top trotters at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, winning Friday’s $28,649 Open Handicap Trot.
To be sure, Guido Di lost in a pair of six-figure events at other tracks during his current Meadows streak. But even post nine couldn’t beat the five-year-old Wishing Stone-Focus On Me gelding on Friday, as he reached the point before the quarter for Brady Brown and wasn’t seriously challenged thereafter.
Saint K tried to make a race of it, moving first-over from third, but Guido Di downed him by a length in 1:53.3. Tequila Talkin finished third.
Steve Schoeffel trains Guido Di, who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $406,612, for Kathy Schoeffel, Marian Schilling and Lewis Falton.
Driver Mike Wilder collected five wins on the 13-race card, including two for trainer Norm Parker, while Ronnie Wrenn Jr. enjoyed a triple.
Saturday’s program at The Meadows features a $1,705.76 carryover in the Early Pentafecta (Race 4). First post is 12:45 p.m.
