Act Fast had to work for the lead in a contested opening panel, but he was untouchable thereafter as he captured the $28,649 Open Handicap Pace on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Wild Wild Western left inside the even money favourite and stretched him out a bit before yielding to the pocket. But Act Fast was unperturbed, permitting no serious challenges while scoring for Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. in 1:50. Wild Wild Western saved place, beaten 1-1/2 lengths, with Liteningonthebeach third.
Ron Burke trains Act Fast, a four-year-old Downbytheseaside-Act Like A Diva gelding who now boasts a career bankroll of $623,495, for Burke Racing Stable, Knox Services, Rich Lombardo Racing LLC and Beasty LLC.
Aaron Merriman, Dave Palone and Wrenn each piloted four winners, leaving only one event on the 13-race card up for grabs. It was Mike Wilder who grabbed it.
Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes Wednesday when the program features a $389.51 carryover in the Pick 5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
