The outside posts usually don’t produce a high winning percentage on a half-mile racetrack. However, four horses from post eight prevailed Wednesday (Sept. 7) at Harrington Raceway.
The tone was set early on the card as the first four races were won by horses starting from the outside posts, three of them from post eight, as A Royal Blast ($15.40 to win, driven by Jason Thompson), Always B Wayne ($3.20, Ross Wolfenden), Hiro Knockout ($5.80, Montrell Teague) and Ginger Tree Skyr ($9.80, Corey Callahan) all prevailed despite the undesirable starting location.
The seventh race saw another outside starter prevail when Rapid Pulse ($20, Allan Davis) scored a win from post eight.
In the overnight feature, Howard Taylor's Swan In Motion ($6.80, Art Stafford Jr.) won his second straight race over the track in the $20,000 Open Trot in 1:57. The Dylan Davis trainee left the gate in strong fashion from post five and controlled the tempo throughout with a three-length win over Pass Key and Hatikvah. It was the eighth win of the year for the five-year-old Swan For All stallion.
Montrell Teague had a driving triple. Allan Davis and Stafford Jr. each had driving doubles.
