Oakmont Triples In Truro Feature

Oakmont went wire-to-wire to win the top class at Truro Raceway for the third consecutive week during Sunday afternoon's harness racing card.

Oakmont held a commanding lead in the $1,275 Winners Over Pace through fractions of :28.1, :57.1 and 1:26 and cruised home for the season's best 1:55.4 triumph with pocket-sitter Sf Razamatazz following one and three-quarter lengths behind under the wire and Electric Syl closing from the back of the five-horse field for third.

Danny Romo trains and drove Oakmont for his last two wins -- one of which was a dead-heat -- while Robert Laffin took the lines for Sunday's score. Oakmont now has six wins in 15 starts this year in Nova Scotia and P.E.I. after a winless seven-race 2013 campaign in Ontario. The seven-year-old I Am A Fool gelding is owned by Grayland Farm of Pugwash, N.S.

Earlier on the card, an accident occurred at the finish in the fourth race involving Djs Kocakolacowboy, driven by Paul Langille, and Just Blue Bayou, in rein to Shawn Dixon. Officials from the track reported that both Langille and Dixon were okay and walked off the track under their own power while the horses left swiftly after getting untangled. Langille did complete his drives on the program and rebounded with a win aboard Justwitchway later in the 12th race. Dixon was not listed on any other drives.
