Driver Paul MacKenzie had a very good night at the office on Monday at Grand River Raceway thanks to a five-win performance over the Elora, Ont. oval

.

MacKenzie broke through for his first win in Race 4 with the Jim Ritchie-trained Dash Board Lights. The pacer drew off to win by two lengths in 1:55.2 after being treated to a pocket trip. MacKenzie came right back to victory lane the very next race with Maple Martini (2:03), and he completed the natural hat trick with Starbaby Romeo (1:59) in Race 6.

Ultra Jimmy’s 1:54.1 triumph in Race 11 completed MacKenzie’s Grand Slam, but he wasn’t about to rest on his laurels. The southpaw turned a pocket trip into a win with Realgoodkisser (1:59), who prevailed by three-quarters of a length in Race 12.

The 2010 campaign marks the 14th consecutive season in which MacKenzie has driven horses banking in excess of $1 million in purse earnings. He’s on the verge of his 11th straight season of banking more than $2 million in purse earnings.
