A total of 10 three-year-old trotting colts will line up behind the gate this Saturday night in a single $40,000 elimination for this year’s Canadian Trotting Classic at Mohawk Racetrack.

The $1 million final for the Canadian Trotting Classic will take place Saturday, September 18 at the Campbellville, Ont. oval.

A pair of horses -- Hambletonian winner Muscle Massive and Colonial winner Lucky Chucky -- accepted byes straight to the final based on earnings. Conspicuous by his absence is Holiday Road who had shipped north to Mohawk for two recent qualifiers in preparation for the CTC (in his second qualifier, on September 3, he made multiple breaks).

Saturday’s field includes last year’s Breeders Crown champion Pilgrims Taj, who has drawn Post 6 for trainer Trond Smedshammer and driver Mike Lachance. Pilgrims Taj has three wins this year from nine starts and close to $260,000 in earnings.

Temple Of Doom is coming in off of a 1:52.4 World Record performance in a division of the Zweig Memorial on August 29 at Tioga Downs. David Miller will guide the colt from Post 9 for trainer Jonas Czernyson.

Having drawn Post 10 is Break The Bank K, who won a division of the Simcoe Stakes this past Saturday at Mohawk by 13 lengths in 1:54 over an off track. The colt is also conditioned by Smedshammer

The field also features Ontario Sires Stakes star Text Me along with Hes A Demon, who is sent out by trainer Jeff Gillis and driver Jody Jamieson -- the same combination that captured the $1 million Metro Pace this past weekend at Mohawk with Mystician.

The top eight finishers will advance to the lucrative final. The connections of the elimination winner will earn the right to choose their charge's post position for the final.

Mystician will be back in action Saturday night, as he will be competing in a division of the Champlain Stakes for two-year-old pacing colts. Shes A Great Lady champ Idyllic will also returns in the filly counterpart.

The 13-race program will also be highlighted by a division of the Simcoe Stakes for three-year-old colt and gelding pacers.

First post is at 7:30 p.m. (E.T.).
