It has been reported that Saratoga Harness Racing, Inc., operator of Saratoga Casino and Raceway, is one step closer to purchasing a 30 per cent stake in Ellis Park, the Kentucky thoroughbred racecourse.
An article by courierpress.com states that on Wednesday, September 5, a Kentucky Horse Racing Commission subcommittee approved the proposal.
The proposal will now head to the full KHRC for consideration.
The agreement between Ellis Park and Saratoga Harness Racing, Inc. reportedly includes options to allow the latter to acquire larger stakes in the racetrack going forward.
In addition to its on-track and simulcasting product, Ellis Park is home to a successful 'instant racing' gaming parlour.
