Tuesdays With Mom and Greg Merton posted the fastest New York Sire Stakes division for two-year-old trotting fillies on Saturday night at Tioga Downs
.
The duo left the gate from post position three and was in some early traffic around the quarter pole. Tuesdays With Mom struck the front and trotted through sizzling fractions of :27.4, :56.4 and 1:26.4. Merton went to the stick around the last turn and the trotting filly was all out through the stretch barely hanging on at the wire in 1:59.
Miss Conway and Howard Parker shook loose late down the stretch and just nearly missed upsetting the betting favourite, while Madam Hooch (Mike Simons) hung on for third.
The two-year-old daughter of Credit Winner-Princess Deanna is owned and trained by Peter Arrigenna, who also bred the trotting filly. Tuesdays With Mom continues to lead the Sire Stakes list for freshman trotting fillies with six wins and a second in seven seasonal starts for earnings of more than $134,000.
Other division winners included Show Your Lindys (Torgeir Hagmann) in 2:00.3, Windemerealfiredup (Mike Simons) in 1:59.2 and Viva Las Lindy in (Howard Parker) 2:00.2.
Greg Merton, Phil Fluet and Howard Parker each posted driving doubles on the night’s 12-race card.
