Basking in the glow of his biggest career win, Time To Dance returned to the historic winner’s circle at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday evening (Sept. 5) for his third-straight victory.

The Gold Cup and Saucer champion was making his first start back since his crowning moment in the $60,000 final two weeks ago, and trainer-driver Marc Campbell was aggressive from the start in this week’s $3,100 Preferred Pace. Time To Dance hustled off the wings from post 5 and hit the lead at the quarter pole, from there cruising to a 1:52.4 victory by two-and-a-half lengths over Rose Run Quest and pocket-sitter Lisburn finished third.

Owned by Brent Campbell of Charlottetown and Matt McDonald of Edwards, Ont., it was win No. 14 of Time To Dance’s career and his seventh seasonal score.

Campbell celebrated three victories on the card to extend his lead in the Red Shores Charlottetown driver’s standings. Campbell kicked the action off in Race 1 with a maiden-breaking score aboard the Jason Hughes-trained Sports Report in 1:58.2 while Three Truths and Campbell won the final dash of the evening in 1:55.2 for the Paul Doyle stable of Charlottetown.

Cornwall driver Corey MacPherson was the top pilot of the evening with a Grand Slam on the program. MacPherson scored with Fern Hill Dynamic (1:58) for trainer Cindy MacDonald, newcomer Jimmy Be Good (1:55.4) for conditioner Jill MacLean, JJ Patrick (1:56.4) from the Mike McGuigan stable and Screen Test (1:54.2) for trainer Ron Gass.

Trainer Tom Weatherbie and driver Brodie MacPhee teamed up for a pair of wins on the program as Temagami Seelster won her third-straight race to remain undefeated on red soil in 1:57 and Complete Player prevailed as the favourite in race 7 with a 1:57.3 score for the combination.

In the afternoon's third race, Jenna Grace broke at the start and fell, prompting the race to be declared a no contest. Trot Insider will provide updates on the accident when available.
