Grand Slam For Sterling Cooper

The winning streak is now four in a row and counting for pacer Sterling Cooper, who throttled the foes he faced in Monday’s $10,500 Open at Century Downs.

Trainer/driver Brandon Campbell hustled Sterling Cooper to the lead from Post 7, and once they cleared to the top it was game over for the others. Fractions of :26.4, :56.2 and 1:24.1 lit up before Sterling Cooper used a :29.1 kicker to win by six lengths over Cool Cowboy in 1:53.2. Third prize was earned by Get Thereovernight.

Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, the eight-year-old son of Camluck-Babyremembermyname improved his seasonal record to 9-0-3 from 19 starts for owner Jeffrey Elchuk of Surrey, BC. The 40-time winner has banked in excess of $250,000 to date.
