Atlantic Sires Stakes harness racing action will heat up again this weekend, as the two-year-old pacing colts will head to Inverness Raceway for the card of live racing on Sunday afternoon.
Two 'A' divisions, which each feature purses of over $10,000, will be highlights on the afternoon race card. One $2,500 'B' division will round out the card.
The first of the A divisions has been carded as Race 7 and will feature a field of seven starters. J J Romeo (PP4, M. Stevenson, 5-2) has been installed as the morning line choice. The Mike Stevenson-trained Proven Lover colt will be looking to rebound from a break in stride that he made on Labour Day at Fredericton Raceway.
The second of the A divisions (Race 9) has another Proven Lover colt, Proven Desire (PP4, M. Campbell, 5-2), listed as the morning line selection in the eight-horse field. The Marc Campbell-trained and driven bay is coming into the tilt off of a nine and a quarter-length victory over Fredericton on Labour Day.
Sunday's events will be one of two remaining opportunities for the two-year-old pacing colts to earn points for entry into the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown championship. This year's championship weekend will be hosted by Red Shores at Charlottetown Driving Park October 11 and 12.
First race post time on Sunday is 1:30 pm.
