J V S Ring and Brodie MacPhee won the Thursday night feature at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The time of the mile was an impressive 1:58.3 over a track rated good with a three-second variant.
The six-year-old J V S Ring notched his fifth win in his last six starts for owners Joey Gallant and Mike Pollard. Jackie Matheson is the trainer. Van Zant and Roscoes Child completed the triactor.
Saulsbrook Balance and driver Willie Murphy won the trot class in 2:03. Delta Dental was second with Diamond Mine third. Murphy did the driving for owners Cindy MacDonald and Tanya MacKinnon.
An accident occurred in Thursday’s first race when Hot Cadillac caused interference on Trustmeonemoretime and Glengyle Vernon going into the first turn. The trailing horses, Aarons Ambition, with Travis Wilkie in the bike, and JK Yankee with Brad Smith, couldn’t avoid the scramble sending both of them to the track. Wilkie and Smith walked away from the spill. Aarons Ambition was treated for cuts and scrapes.
Jason Hughes had a driving triple while Brian MacPhee recorded a driving double.
Racing returns Saturday at 6 p.m. Red Shores Summerside Sunday at 1 p.m.
