Rideau Feature Taken By Peenie

A tripped-out Peenie prevailed in this week’s edition of the $14,000 Preferred Pace at Rideau Carleton

Raceway, and that was music to the ears of the favourite players.

Sent off as the 1-5 favourite in the nine-horse affair, Peenie got away fifth for driver Denis St. Pierre, who grabbed cover for the Colin Johnson trainee on the way to the mid-way point. Still on cover at the three-quarter pole, Peenie used a final frame of :28.3 to win by a length over Viper Select in 1:53.3. The show dough went to Aint No Hearsay.

Johnson shares ownership on the five-year-old son of Real Artist with Ecurie JGV Enrg of Laval, QC. It was the pacer’s seventh win of the season and the 27th victory of his career. He’s put away more than $321,000 in lifetime earnings.
