There were no surprises in this week’s $900 Winners Over Pace at Northside Downs as favourite Woodmere Westerner pulled off a confident three-length score in rein to Greg Bailey

.

The son of Western Success-Harrods Route sat in third through most of the mile as Cruisinart (Greg Sparling) rolled past stations of :28.4, :58 and 1:27.4. By three-quarters, Woodmere Westerner had pulled alongside the pacesetter and heading into the stretch, the five-year-old gelding kicked away for his sixth win in 14 starts this season.

Local resident Mary Lynn Collins trains and co-owns the winner of 14 races lifetime and $17,905 with Howard Collins.

The Mildred Williams International Driving Series made a stop at the North Sydney half-miler and Kelly Case and Clare MacDonald each won a division.

Case prevailed in the eighth race with the four-year-old Force Of Life-Dunnville Hope gelding Mitchell, who converted a pocket trip into an eight and three-quarter length score in 2:02.1 for trainer and co-owner Doug MacDonald and Dale Boswall of North Wiltshire, P.E.I. Pacesetter Life Of The Ball (Angie Matthews) was the runner-up and Silver Plated (Tammy Lynn MacKay) was third.

MacDonald and Dominating Force came on to win the 10th race by a head in 2:03.1 over the leader Basin View Lisa (Tammy Lynn MacKay). Merry Widow (Angie Matthews) rounded out the top three. Myles Heffernan trains the five-year-old Force Of Life-Tylers First mare for owner Morgan Ferguson of Sydney, N.S.

The Mildred Williams Series heads to Inverness Raceway on Sunday, September 6 and Fredericton Raceway on Monday, September 7.
