Tyrone Bow Tie vaulted out of the pocket to bag another victory in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Kenogami Coco (Robert Shepherd) flashed speed from post five and out-left Tyrone Bow Tie (Guy Gagnon) to his inside to take an early lead, and Tyrone Bow Tie sat the pocket as the leader brought a single-file field through splits of :28.1, :57.4, and 1:27. Gagnon gave Tyrone Bow Tie his marching orders on the final turn, and the gelding swooped around Kenogami Coco and drove clear to win by a length in 1:55.1. Stormont Cheerio (Ryan Guy) flew up the pylons for place after making a break on the final turn, but he was placed last in the field of five for interference while off stride. Kenogami Coco moved up to second, and Stomper Tom (Marie-Claude Auger) was promoted to third.

Tyrone Bow Tie has won the top class at Rideau seven times this year for trainer Mike Armstrong, and he is eight-for-24 overall on the campaign. The son of Lookslikeachpndale-Risk Seeker is owned by Rachel Burns and Wade and Philip Tousignant of Cardinal, Ont. The five-year-old has won 12 of 53 career starts and has earned $115,691. He paid $3.70 to win.

Top trainer Mandy Archer sent out four winners on the 10-race card, adding to a formidable lead in the standings. She won with Caviart Seacrest ($3.60) in 1:53, Never Mind N ($5.90) in 1:55.4, Bettor At Hightide ($3) in 1:54.1, and Tamara Hanover ($14.90) in 1:54.3. Shepherd handled Tamara Hanover, while Gagnon drove the prior three. Archer now leads second-placed Gagnon in by 24 wins on the conditioners’ leaderboard.
