Although Christina Johnson and Go Go George started from the eight-hole, they got first call at every stanchion and went on to win the $8,000 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) Trot in 1:56 at Northfield Park on Saturday night (Sept. 3).
Challenged every step of the way to the top of the stretch by Haul N Dash (Daniel Jones), Go Go George held command and braced for So Wishful (Larry Ferrari) and Emerald Chip (Lauren Harmon) when he turned for home. But in the deep stretch, it became apparent that no one was going to catch Johnson's trotter and he went on to a 2-1/4-length triumph. So Wishful finished second and Emerald Chip took home the show dough.
The race winner, an eight-year-old son of Neely Dunn who also won last Sunday's GLADA Trot at Northfield, is owned by Allen Miller and trained by John Capriotti. He paid $6.20 for the win.
