R Es Aiden closed out the mid-week, six-pack program of harness racing at Inverness Raceway with a front-striding score in the evening's featured $1,150 Winners Over Handicap Pace.
With Rodney Gillis in the sulky, R Es Aiden was on the move early from the three-hole and swept to command by the first quarter in :29.4. He continued to lead through middle splits of 1:00.1 and 1:31.2 en route to a two-length victory in 1:59.4. R Es Aiden rebuffed a challenge from Makes Me Stupid, who advanced first-up to grab the runner-up spot, while This Old Millie went three-wide off the final turn to snag third-place honours.
R Es Aiden notched the fourth victory of his seven-year-old campaign from 17 starts. A 31-time career winner, the son of Force Of Life is trained by leading local conditioner Don Beaton, who also co-owns with Adam Pond of Fort McMurray, Alta.
