Artful Way (Brett Crawford) went right to the lead and never looked back in Monday afternoon's (September 4) featured $11,400 Open Pace at Vernon Downs.

Artful Way jumped out to the lead and went gate-to-wire. The five-year-old son of Artistic Fella, who is owned by the Kellogg Racing Stables and trained by Jackie Greene, put up fractions of :25.3, :53.4, and 1:21.1 en route to a 1:49 victory.

JK Panache (Jimmy Whittemore) followed the whole way to finish second, and Oh My Joepa (John MacDonald) took third.

For Artful Way ($3.50), the win was his ninth of the year and the 29th of his career.

Leading driver John MacDonald won four races on Monday afternoon, teaming up with Manverick ($3.10), Mayflowermoonshine ($3.40), Dragon Fever ($6.40), and Coopers Beach ($2.60).

Vernon Downs returns for live racing on Thursday (September 7), featuring New York Sire Stakes for freshman trotting colts and geldings. Post time is 6:45 p.m. Eastern.
