High Roller stepped to a new track record while snapping the win streak of the undefeated Chip Of Evil in Lady Slipper Stakes action on Saturday (Sept. 30) evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

High Roller sat third in her $18,800 Lady Slipper Gold assignment for two-year-old pacing fillies and the Melissa Rennie-trained daughter of Big Jim powered up first-over in line to Adam Merner in the final half. She shook loose for a new 1:55.2 track standard for rookie fillies. The formerly undefeated Chip Of Evil (Corey MacPherson) had to settle for second while Wednesday (Myles Heffernan Sr.) cut out the action and finished third.

Wednesday shared the original 1:55.4 track record for two-year-old pacing fillies with Mermaid Magic.

High Roller is owned by Kmac Stables of Stanhope, P.E.I. and Cory Livingston of Village Green, P.E.I.

Goodmorning Nova (Gilles Barrieau) won another $18,800 Lady Slipper Gold division for two-year-old fillies in 1:56.1 for trainer Dwane MacEachern and owners Melissa Banks and Jason Williams. Dusty Lane Dixie was a 2:00.1 winner in her Gold division for trainer-driver Barrieau and owner David Lund.

The $21,100 Joe O’Brien Memorial Gold divisions for two-year-old pacing colts were claimed by Merigo Magic (Merner) in 1:56.1 and Jackies Boy (Heffernan Sr.) in 1:57.2. Jackies Boy is owned and trained by Myles Heffernan Jr., while the ownership papers of Merigo Magic are held by Mike May, Herman Mcquaid, Derrick Cameron and Ian Walker.

Bee Two Bee won the $3,800 Preferred Pace in 1:52.4 with trainer Jason Hughes in the bike for owners Donald MacRae and Blair MacLauchlan. Twin B Tuffenuff (Barrieau) was second ahead of Rollem (Merner).

Total wager on the card was $113,817.
