Crisp Mane thwarted the first-over challenge of Always Giggling en route to victory in Wednesday’s (Sept. 30) feature at The Meadows, a $10,800 conditioned pace for fillies and mares.

Crisp Mane and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. used their rail position effectively, powering to the point and seating Amelias Courage A and Always Giggling. Always Giggling charged hard near the three-quarters, but Crisp Mane turned her away by a half length in 1:52.4. Amelias Courage A completed the ticket.

Ron Burke trains Crisp Mane, a four-year-old daughter of Sportswriter and Designated Leader who pushed her career bankroll to $181,910, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

Brady Brown collected three wins on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Friday (Oct. 2), when the 13-race program features a $45,551.33 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5 and a $4,528.66 carryover in the Pick-5 (races 8-12). First post is 12:45 p.m.
