Favourites Flourish In Flamboro Preferred

Chalks thrived in the Flamboro features on Sunday, Sept. 30 as 8-5 favourite Imsporty converted a pocket trip to a 1:54 victory in the $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace and 3-2 favourite Always N The Money took the $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace going wire to wire in 1:54.2.

Imsporty sat pocket to Beavercreek Artist, who posted splits of :27.1, :56.4 and 1:25.1 on the lead. Rock This Way challenged from first over starting at the half and pressured the pacesetter a half-length from the lead turning into the stretch. Travis Henry then sent the Carmen Auciello trainee into the passing lane and Imsporty kicked to a one-and-a-quarter length score over Breavercreek Artist with Rock This Way third.

A five-year-old gelding by Sportswriter, Imsporty, owned by Percy Elkins, won his eighth race from 33 starts this season and his 18th from 101 overall, earning $231,319. He paid $5.40 to win.

Owned and trained by Jodie Cullen, Always N The Money faced little pressure in progress to his one-and-a-half length victory in the Preferred 3 Pace.

Travis Cullen took the lead from post four with the eight-year-old Always A Virgin gelding and set fractions of :27.3, :56.1 and 1:24.4 on the lead. Pocket-sitter Senior Market chased the $5.10 winner through the mile and the stretch to finish second with Adkins Hanover, sitting third the whole way, in third.

The Sunday card at Flamboro Downs also featured two $8,500 divisions of the Autumn Series for filly and mare trotters. Sent the 1-9 favourite, Agent Thirteen won the first division going wire to wire in 2:01.3. The three-year-old filly by Majestic Son won her third race from 11 starts, earning $14,134 for owner Wayne Allison. She paid $2.10 to win.

Pocket-rider Jessiejesorjessica overtook race-leader Dance Me Dizzy to win the second division by a half-length in 2:01.4. A two-year-old filly by Justice Hall, she broke her maiden in her third start career and accrued $5,155 in earnings for owner Sea Of Green Inc. Kelly Sheppard trains and drove the $6.90 winner.
