A compact group of four lined up in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Mohawk Racetrack, and it marked the much anticipated return of the three-time Maple Leaf Trot winner, San Pail.

The multiple O’Brien Award-winning gelding rallied to finish second, but he was no match for Knows Nothing in his first start off the bench.

Jody Jamieson hustled Knows Nothing to the lead from Post 3, and they went unchallenged through panels of :28.3, :59 and 1:27.3. Knows Nothing roared home in :27.1 to stop the teletimer in 1:54.4. He was 4-3/4 lengths better than San Pail, with Windong Geant edging out P L Daley for the final spot on the Triactor ticket. Take My Picture and Intimidate were both scratched ‘sick’ from the featured event.

It was the fourth win of the season for Knows Nothing, who hangs his harness bag in the barn of trainer Jeff Gillis. The four-year-old son of Kadabra-Savvy Yankee, who is owned by Al Libfeld, Marvin Katz and J Gillis G Stay, is a 13-time winner who boasts a career bankroll of $695,536.
